How does the Community Benefit Program work?

Community Benefit Programs are established by CEs to support under-insured or uninsured members of the community. The program provides these patients with reduced or no-cost medication, according to subsidies the CE sets that range from partial to full coverage. Many CEs tie pricing to the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) to determine eligibility. The following tiers are commonly used:

FPL Patient Pays CE Pays
0-100% of FPL $0 340B drug cost + pharmacy dispensing fee + admin fee
101-200% of FPL 340B drug cost Pharmacy dispensing fee + admin fee
201-300% of FPL 340B drug cost + 50% of dispensing/admin fees 50% of pharmacy dispensing fee + admin fee
301-400% of FPL 340B drug cost + pharmacy dispensing fee + admin fee $0
